Wicked Inquisition – Wicked Inquisition

Wicked have released a new album that not only surpasses their past releases, but something that will go down in doom history as a very important album from a band I personally believe will make it in this industry.

Wicked Inquisition are a local band from my area and I love the fuck out of them. My first taste of their music was when my band played a show with them a few days before Christmas in 2011 and they’ve been my favorite local act ever since. Wicked have released a new album that not only surpasses their past releases, but something that will go down in doom history as a very important album from a band I personally believe will make it in this industry.

Being the perfect length of a little over 40 minutes, there are a ton of riffs that made it onto this record and not only that – they’re all catchy. I can’t tell you how long songs like “Crimson Odyssey” and “In Shackles” will be stuck in your head. The amount of precision in the song structure shows how much the band has matured since their conception.

Anyone who has read my reviews knows that I constantly look for emotion in the albums that I listen to. I need to feel something when I listen to music, and this album has definitely fulfilled that need. A track like “M.A.D.” is a perfect example. The disconsolate feeling that the lyrics convey about human’s ultimately leading themselves to their own extinction shines through. The weeping acoustic guitar solo in the song also contributes to that melancholic emotion, which I love (I like to be sad).

The band themselves are all amazing musicians. Made up of Ben Stevens (guitar), Nate Towle (guitar), Jordan Anderson (bass) and Jack Mcoskey (drums), you can tell just by listening to the album how in sync with each other they are. They’re one of the best bands to see live simply because of that reason. They will be done with their current tour by the time this is published, but next time they head out on the road I encourage you to go see them and give them all your support. A band this amazing deserves amazing fans.

P.S.

Dear Nate: Ugh… I don’t know what it’s called. Maybe it’s called fuck you?
