GORTAL: “There Has to be Fire But At the Same Time We Want Every Note to Be Audible.” [Interview]

On the 7th April 2013, me and fellow friend and MetalRecusants contributor Vatis, had the awesome opportunity of seeing the mighty Polish death metal act Gortal in Warsaw, Poland. I was looking forward to the show ever since I listened to their latest album Deamonolith (Pagan Records) so we also got in touch with the band and arranged an interview before the show. The interview took place in one of the band member’s cars with Chryste (guitars / vocals), Filip (bass) and Major (guitars).

Listen to the chat below. The band talks about their three-date “Blastwhipping” tour, Deivos and Ulcer, their latest album and Christianity in Poland. They also reveal to us that they are planning some concerts abroad… in Ireland. The interview also features short clips of music from their latest album!

Review of their gig in Warsaw: “Gortal were the only ones who took full advantage of the great acoustics (at least for this kind of extreme music) which Klub Harenda has to offer. From the first track, you could tell that Gortal were THE band of the night; the sound quality was beyond amazing and the catchiness of their death metal filled with loads of headbanging moments as well as slower tempo parts ensured that no one lost interest.” Check out the rest of the review here.

Gortal will also be supporting Chicago death metallers Disinter during their stop in Warsaw, Poland. More info about that here.

Gortal appeared on our free digital stream/download compilation Chants of Death: Vol. 1. Check it out here.

About Dom (1280 Articles)
I started this website in 2011 because I always had a burning passion of sharing music and keeping people informed about what's going on in the metal and rock worlds. If I am not sitting in a dark room in front of a computer, listening to some obscure music (or Whitesnake), then I am usually found at a concert or a festival interviewing bands (or drinking beer).
