CONAN: “The New Album is Pencilled in for January 29th” [Video Interview]

"You almost don't want people to cite you as an influence as you don't want to feel as you've arrived"

Conan are a monolith of the doom scene. They have worked hard to get where they are and have the music to back it up. Jon Davis of Conan was as welcoming as last time we talked (we last spoke in 2013). Jon is a very busy yet lovely man, apologising for being tired and for being late (there was an accident on a nearby motorway which delayed the band’s arrival to the venue).

In the interview we talked about the show and venue (Colchester Arts Centre), their recent tour with Ufomammut, their first American tour which resulted in an appearance at Maryland Death Fest and the future for the band.

Note: The last time Conan played Colchester was in 2013, not 2003; you can read the review of that gig here.

About Jack (818 Articles)
I am a recent graduate from the University of Essex in Colchester where by the luck of Odin I met the editor, Dom. I first got into metal when I was 13 and now I am 22 and own an uncountable amount of band T-shirts. I also regularly attend gigs (local and in neighbouring areas) as well as festivals. My musical taste is varied; I like nu metal (my first love), thrash, black, death, doom, folk, sludge (my favourite genre), symphonic and many more of the multiple genres that metal has to offer, I even like some metalcore (I know it's a dirty word within some metal circles but some of it is outstanding). One of my most memorable metal moments was meeting Grand Magus at the Bloodstock signing tent and having the whole tent to myself, spending a few minutes talking to them.
