Blaze of Perdition – Near Death Revelations

Definitely one of the better bands out there right now.

A cosmic work of art, Blaze of Perdition have improved on their sound in every way possible. Being one of the better black metal records this year, this album feels like an atmospheric trip through hell. Melancholic hooks, punishing riffs and the heightened sense of vocal awareness on Near Death Revelations all add up to a great album.

There is something really special about ritualistic black metal. When I say ritualistic I mean the style of riffing and the approach to playing the instrument. Lyrics have an important place in this style, but ultimately the playing style of the musicians is what comes out on top for records like these. Blaze of Perdition knows this very well, because this whole album is really centered around the guitar. Very well crafted, structured and though out, there was a lot of effort put into making the guitars very present and bright on the record. Don’t get me wrong, every instrument on this album is important but all those components are what compliment the guitars so well.

There isn’t anything to complain about this album. A seriously solid black metal album making it one of the best this year so far, this is a highly recommended release to pick up if you haven’t already done so. There’s something truly special about Blaze of Perdition and I really hope they keep up this vibe. Definitely one of the better bands out there right now.
