MR Xmas Calendar Day 3: High Hopes

In the run-up to Christmas, we look at bands and artists which impressed us or had some impact in 2016!

Band: High Hopes
Label: Victory Records
Country: UK
Genre: Melodic hardcore, metalcore

Reading’s High Hopes were always destined for greatness. Even as a spectator in their very early days prior to their current name, you could tell immediately that they had all the tools to make an unabashed name for themselves just purely from their presence, ability and influences. They bear resemblance to bands such as The Ghost Inside and August Burns Red and amalgamating the most imperative parts of each to craft a sound that is purely High Hopes. The words ‘melodic hardcore’ don’t do the band justice.

It’s hard to believe I used to gig with these guys in my old band, but it’s so awesome to see them doing so very well. Having just joined the Artery Global roster, with Victory Records behind them, and a superb album Sights and Sounds to their name, and a tour spanning several continents, the future is even brighter for High Hopes.
