PREVIEW: Belzebong, Dopelord, Weedpecker, Major Kong @ The Underworld, London (UK) – 11th May 2017

If you're not stoned out after the hammering of Desertfest last month, then there is plenty more where that came from with a night of Polish stoner music at the Camden Underworld courtesy of Nightshift Promotions.

Theresa May has been in the news a lot talking about the need for a strong and stable government, but what the country really needs is a strong and stable line-up with some heavy stoner riffs. So, if you’re not stoned out after the hammering of Desertfest last month, then there is plenty more where that came from with a night of Polish stoner music at The Underworld courtesy of Nightshift Promotions.

Major Kong are an instrumental doom metal three-piece from Lublin, Poland. A new band to the scene, they have been making waves with solid instrumental stoner music. Powerful, gigantic riffs will consume The Underworld as Major Kong take to the stage.

Weedpecker may have been established in Warsaw in 2012, but five years later they have developed a cult following in the global stoner community. Their third album III is out in just a few weeks and I for one cannot wait for it. Spacey psychedelic grooves, heavy stoner riffs with a hint of grunge, Weedpecker will be playing no nonsense riffs for your pleasure.

Inspired by old movies, 70s music and magical herbs, Lublin’s Dopelord are the final act to warm up the crowd before the headline act takes to the stage. Dopelord are having an excellent year having supported Zeal and Ardor as well as releasing the best album of their career in Children of the Haze. Expect leviathan-sized riffs and cosmic solos from Dopelord.

Last month we interviewed Dopelord, you can read that chat here.

Belzebong are legends in the underground. Since their formation in 2008; they have toured Europe multiple times and even played Psycho Las Vegas last year, their American debut. They’re a band with a discography speaking for itself; a demo, two albums and an EP that are full of instant classics, with hilarious names such as ‘Bong Thrower’ and ‘Undertoker.’ The instrumental quartet are a band who are worth the price of the ticket, train, pint and merch alone. Follow the smoke to the riff-filled venue to catch Belzebong.

About Jack (818 Articles)
I am a recent graduate from the University of Essex in Colchester where by the luck of Odin I met the editor, Dom. I first got into metal when I was 13 and now I am 22 and own an uncountable amount of band T-shirts. I also regularly attend gigs (local and in neighbouring areas) as well as festivals. My musical taste is varied; I like nu metal (my first love), thrash, black, death, doom, folk, sludge (my favourite genre), symphonic and many more of the multiple genres that metal has to offer, I even like some metalcore (I know it's a dirty word within some metal circles but some of it is outstanding). One of my most memorable metal moments was meeting Grand Magus at the Bloodstock signing tent and having the whole tent to myself, spending a few minutes talking to them.
