Accept – The Rise of Chaos

Accept, a classic heavy metal band of the ‘80s, remains a leading force in today’s heavy metal. With their latest albums the Germans managed to persuade us that we can talk about them in the present and future tense. The replacement of Udo Dirkschneider with Mark Tornillo really helped them to breathe, stay alive and continue their tradition. So, we are now talking about their new album, entitled The Rise of Chaos, an album that every fan of traditional metal had been expecting with anxiety.

The Rise of Chaos isn’t the best album that Accept has released until now, but it’s a musical work that will satisfy the headbangers. To be honest with you, I liked more “Blood of the Nations”, “Stalingrad”  and “Blind Rage”, whose songwriting was more solid and powerful; nevertheless, the newest album of the band rocks big time and is our perfect heavy metal music companion. Every trademark of Accept is present in “The Rise of Chaos” – the monolithic riffs and the superb guitar solos of Hoffmann/Lulis, the catchy melodies, the strong rhythm section, the characteristic choirs, the special vibe of Accept’s music.

The first song of the album, “Die By the Sword”, is an instant classic, the electrifying “Hole in the Head”, “The Rise of Chaos” and “Koolaid” are delivering the goods, “No Regrets”, “Analog Man” and “What’s Done is Done” are worthy of the band’s name and signature. Finally, “Worlds Colliding”, “Carry The Weight” and “Race to Extinction” are top-notch metal tunes that should not be missed.

I have the feeling though, that the band was more inspired in the previous albums. Accept doesn’t reach its artistic peak and the band is just doing its job, nothing more. Yet, “The Rise of Chaos” should be regarded as a fine classic metal album. Chaos never sounded more pleasant!
