Preview: Septicflesh, Inquistion and Stahlsarg @ The Underworld, London (UK) – 22 January 2018

On Monday 22nd January, black metal heavyweights Septicflesh and Inqusition will be playing a co-headline set at the legendary Camden Underworld. It marks Inquisition’s first UK show since Bloodstock 2017 and Septicflesh’s first time in London for two years! The night promises to be an intimate sweatfest in one of the UK’s best venues.

Currently promoting their second album Mechanisms of Misanthropy, Suffolk’s Stahlsarg will be opening the show. Drawing inspiration from harrowing tails of survivalism and warfare, Stahlsarg have upped their game since their last record creating an album that is much more immersive and powerful than its predescesor. Get down early for Stahlsarg.

Celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, Inquisition are the first of the co-headliners to take to the stage. With some of the most unique vocals in the black metal genre, Inquisition have carved a name for themselves in black metal canon. Dagon’s vocals sound exactly like a demon from the depths of hell while Incubus’ drumming has never sounded better. Coloumbia’s Inqusition will bring the ritual to London and if you are a fan of the black metal genre, you’d be foolish to miss it.

In Februrary 2016 when I saw Kataklysm at the Underworld, the band that left the most impression on me was Septicflesh. They blew me away and left me wanting more. Two years later my dream of seeing them again has come true. The power they have live is rarely beaten by many of their contemporaries and in their 27 year career they have done something that many bands rarely achieve; creating a unique sound that many have tried to copy, but have not come close to perfecting. With their latest album Codex Omega appearing on many critic and fan end of year lists for 2017, Septicflesh will no doubt smash the Underworld again. But if you miss them, there’s always Bloodstock in August.

About Jack (874 Articles)
I am a recent graduate from the University of Essex in Colchester where by the luck of Odin I met the editor, Dom. I first got into metal when I was 13 and now I am 22 and own an uncountable amount of band T-shirts. I also regularly attend gigs (local and in neighbouring areas) as well as festivals. My musical taste is varied; I like nu metal (my first love), thrash, black, death, doom, folk, sludge (my favourite genre), symphonic and many more of the multiple genres that metal has to offer, I even like some metalcore (I know it's a dirty word within some metal circles but some of it is outstanding). One of my most memorable metal moments was meeting Grand Magus at the Bloodstock signing tent and having the whole tent to myself, spending a few minutes talking to them.
